The Session day is here! Now what?
You just had your baby a couple of weeks ago. You are tired and kind of overwhelmed. You're excited for your newborn session but might also be feeling a bit nervous. How is this going to go? Will my baby sleep? What if I was up the whole night before?! How will I manage?
Let me walk you through the whole process and alleviate any fears.
We have lots of tricks up our sleeves.
Our goal for every newborn session is a sleepy baby. When babies are awake they tend to be fussier and harder to pose, so we have lots of tricks to keep your baby calm, sleepy, and happy!
We keep the temperature in the studio pretty warm, especially when your baby is undressed. Babies love warmth and it helps them sleep more deeply so keep that in mind when choosing the clothes you wear to the session. Make sure you will be comfortable!
We have other tools as well. We use a baby shushing machine for white noise and a Lulavibe to provide gentle vibrations. We utilize swaddling to help babies fall asleep as well as special, calming hand motions.
Your baby is the boss
At the end of the day, even with all our tricks, your baby is in charge and will determine the flow and length of the session. If they aren't liking a certain pose, we will switch to a different one. If they love being swaddled, we may have more swaddled looks in your gallery.
Your little one already has a personality and some pretty strong opinions, especially when it comes to eating! Most babies need to stop and eat several times throughout the session and each break could last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Which brings us to our next point...
Newborn Sessions are long
Most babies require several breaks during their session, sometimes to eat and sometimes just for cuddles! Posing newborns is also a very exact science and since they aren't quite old enough to follow directions, settling your baby into each pose can take a while. All of which is to say, plan for your newborn session to be an all-day experience. Don't book anything else for that day.
Most of our newborn sessions take anywhere from 3-5 hours and I promise we will keep you comfortable the whole time! We have an awesome massage chair for you to relax in, water, and snacks. And while baby is getting their pictures taken we have another special treat for moms...
Hair & Makeup Artistry
Many of our moms tell us that they want to take family pictures with their baby, but they are worried that they won't be looking or feeling their best so soon after birth. No worries - we've got you covered! We now pamper our moms with professional Hair & Makeup Artistry. While your baby is being photographed, you will get to relax while getting your hair and makeup done by our amazing artist. And don't worry about bringing something to wear or clothes not fitting right... We've got you covered there too!
We provide everything!
We have everything needed for your session right in the studio. We provide all the cute little props, the gorgeous tiny outfits, the bonnets and accessories, and even dresses and outfits for moms and older siblings.
We will design sets based on your preferences and our conversations. When you come in for your session all the gorgeous sets will be completely set up and ready to go! There is no need for you to bring anything from home other than the baby!
